For example, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommend using a tool such as The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) to screen new moms for postpartum depression. The EPDS consists of 10 diagnostic questions and takes mothers about five minutes to complete. Many OB-GYNs use a questionnaire like this at a mom’s postpartum check-up, which generally occurs at six weeks postpartum.
